Name: Uchiha Sasuke
Age: 16
Birthdate: 7/23/92
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 115
Hair color: Black
Eye color: Dark brown
Job: Assistant in the pharmacy department.
Physique: Slender build, with slightly feminine facial features, of obvious Asian descent. Is most muscular in his upper arms and legs from sports such as cross country, swimming, and track. Is very pale, and tends to bruise easily. However, is not the type for many vigorous contact sports, and has experienced little roughhousing as a child, leaving his skin (for the most part) unmarked and unblemished. Is slightly OCD about keeping his nails clean and neatly filed, though is nowhere near as fastidious about the rest of his personal hygiene, much more suited to fast showers and either giving his hair a quick comb or pulling it back into a messy ponytail to get it out of his way.
Identifying Marks: Jagged scar on his right forearm just below his elbow from when he was attacked by a dog at the age of five.
History:
Sasuke’s early years were, for the most part, happy and conducive to his development. While Fugaku took a harsh, constrictive interest in his brother, Sasuke was usually overlooked by his father, and grew up under his mother’s sweet-natured care. As children tend to be, Sasuke was completely unaware of any domestic unrest in the household, and because Mikoto lived to shield her children from anything harmful if she could help it, Sasuke only glimpsed brief situations in which Fugaku’s violent temper got out of control. Perhaps from an instinctive sense of self-preservation, Sasuke steered clear of his father and stuck to his mother, remaining neutral toward his brother because the difference in their ages made Itachi seem as far out of reach as Fugaku.
It was not until the fateful day of Mikoto’s death that Sasuke was exposed to the real wrath that boiled just underneath the placid surface of his father. The seven-year-old watched, frozen in horror, as Fugaku beat his wife to death while Itachi looked on, unable to move (from experiencing a similar, heavy beating moments before). Sasuke was too scared to do much more than hide, begging his father to stop and calling to his brother for help. Neither worked.
The shock of the experience was long-lasting, and Sasuke went through most of the events following in a sort of hazy confusion, many of the memories of that time still lost to him. He remained with his brother for a very short period until authorities found them and separated them into the system, landing Sasuke in a foster home. In the years following, Sasuke was shifted from home to home, though never any that contained his brother. As he grew older, Sasuke was better able to piece together the reality behind his fairy-tale childhood, understanding the truth of what had happened. He felt the utmost hatred for his father and desperate yearning for his mother, and while he did not blame his brother for any of it, he grew bitter towards him when it seemed Itachi made no attempts at contacting him.
While he had been extroverted, gentle, and friendly as a child, Sasuke became withdrawn and antisocial as a result of his mother’s death, talking little and interacting with others even less. The abrupt separation from his last family member jolted Sasuke into distrust, too anxious over being left again to allow himself to form any other longstanding attachments. And being constantly bounced around did little to remedy this.
It became clear to Sasuke the only person he could depend on to help him rise above his predicament and continue on with his life was himself. Unwilling to give up, it didn’t take long for Sasuke to force himself out of his misery and focus on something constructive, determined to make something of himself instead of falling off the map, like many of those in foster care seemed to. School was the obvious choice, and while Sasuke found little interest in it where he had before, he forced himself to study hard and stay at the top of his class, refusing anything less. As soon as he was old enough he began to work as well, from being hired for odd jobs by neighbors when he was ten, to a paper route at twelve, mowing lawns at thirteen, and a fast food joint at fifteen. Yet another foster home placed him in a new town, Konoha, where he applied for a job at the local grocery store, slightly intrigued by the open position in the pharmacy department. Pharmacists dealt with drugs, which equaled chemistry – a subject Sasuke was actually becoming interested in. Perhaps this job could actually aid him in school, instead of being mindless.
Personality:
Sasuke is very hard on himself. He pushes himself to the limit, not because anyone else is watching or for the need of their approval, but because in some twisted way, Sasuke is afraid of becoming a failure like his father. He also likes to keep himself busy because it leaves little room to dwell on things, though despite this Sasuke is still introspective and pensive even when he doesn’t want to be. He doesn’t make room for socialization, and comes off as disinterested and rude toward most of his peers. He doesn’t seem to notice this or acknowledge it, and wastes little time in apologizing for his rather brusque, blunt way with words. He doesn’t see himself as cold or mean, though others may pin him this way, and his experience with any kind of romantic relationship is absolutely nil. In essence, he’s a very difficult person to coax into a friendship, in any sort of context.
Sasuke can be polite when it’s to his advantage, though he is severely lacking in charm and charisma. He’s very smart and has a wide vocabulary, but he doesn’t hold his intelligence over people, and in fact despises people who patronize others, especially him. However, he does get very impatient with stupid or obnoxious people, and will not hold his tongue unless it’s absolutely necessary (as in at work with a customer – and even then there’s no promises). When he conquers a problem he sees challenging, he’s quite proud, but he tends to keep his triumphs to himself, like everything else.
It also very, very hard to piss Sasuke off to the point of violence. Whether this stems from his abhorrence towards his parents’ situation, or because of his own calm nature, Sasuke is very passive aggressive, preferring to use sharp words instead of fists in a fight. This does not mean he has a submissive demeanor – it is just as hard to push Sasuke around as it is to get him to fight – but if it’s possible to avoid aggressive confrontations, Sasuke will usually opt to do so.
Appearance/Hobbies:
Sasuke has no sense of style. He dresses in whatever fits, though his tastes go more toward dark, muted colors when he has the choice. Because he is more intent on saving his money than spending it, he’ll willingly wear whatever hand-me-downs his current foster family care to give him and it’s not unusual to see him wearing clothes too many sizes too big – or too small – for him.
Sasuke has few hobbies, which include taking walks, reading (mostly nonfiction – philosophy, chemistry, biology, and physics are his favorites), and watching horror flicks. Horror movies don’t scare him; rather, he enjoys analyzing them in separate parts (lighting, suspense, costuming, plot, etc.) and rating them. He also runs and swims, though more out of necessity of being healthy and keeping in shape than because he enjoys the exercise.
